Corrie ten Boom has wonderful illustration about how to deal with the past:
Guilt is a useful experience because it shows where things are wrong. It is dangerous when it is not there at all, just as the absence of pain when someone ia ill can be dangerous.
When we belong to Jesus we are not called to carry our guilt ourselves. God has laid on Jesus the sins of the whole world. What you have to do is to tell HIM everything, confess your guilt and sin and repent, and then He will cleanse you and throw all your sins into the depths of the sea. Dont forget there is a sign that reads "No fishing allowed."
