There are several reasons that an adult may return to college. 1) They may want to get a better position with the company that they work for. 2) They may be looking for a new job. 3) They may want to learn something that they may have an interest in. My friends father, had returned to college many years ago, to learn auto mechanics. This is something that he had an interest in, and he loved it. It kept him busy, as he was also on disability. When I had gone back to college myself, the classes that I had taken were of students of various age groups as well.

To better educate themselves. To have knowledge and better understanding of a subject as to obtain a better career. Or maybe they just want to learn something new. There are many reason why one could want to go to college. Why do yoe ask? Are you asking because because you dislike the idea or are you just curious?
