We all know that David Beckham is the most famous footballer at this time. This former Manchester United (England) and Real Madrid (Spain) player will move to LA Galaxy (USA) in this August with stunning transfer fee: $ 250 Million for 5 years. Thus will make him the most expensive player soccer player in the world.
May be we wont be this surprised if he moves to European rich football club, where soccer is the most favourite sports in the continent, with the fanatic supporter. But to MLS (USA Leage)?? Where soccer is the 4th famous sports in that country behind Basketball, American Football and Baseball???
Can a David Beckham makes MLS the most favourite sports in USA?? We know that few great player such as Pele, Frans Beckenbauer, Johan Cryuff, George Best ever play in USA at 70's but they cant do much to make soccer the most fav sports.
Can a David Beckham makes MLS more interactive?? where he cant even get his position in Real Madrid's starting lineup??
Is LA Galaxy really use David Beckham ability to play soccer or because of his social status as celebrity to make the club famous than the sports itself?? Pls give ur oppinion

No, it is not his worth. This is a big commercial operation to have Beckham is LA. There will be a lot of entrance by merchandise and american soccer need to have someone like Beckham.

Becks was one of the best players we have ever had in England, but he is 34 now and his top-flight playing days are over. He has lost his place in the national team and he will never reclaim it playing in the States, as the standard of football there is lower than the standard in Europe so he will not be able to maintain any real sharpness or match fitness. I'm not sure any sportsman is worth the kind of money they are paying him - but I gues you can't blame the guy for taking it. And of course Victoria is very keen to get away from the UK because she is seen pretty much as a "laughing stock" here, and she hopes for more acceptance and good publicity abroad.

I cannot understand why Beckham chose to go on his football career in US, not in Europe. But I think leaving Real Madrid is not so bad for him. His performance in Spain was worse than that in England, and his role as right midfielder in Real Madrid is also no so important as in Manchester United. Maybe back to England is the best choice, if he wants to get back to national team of England.

To the soccer world it is a complete joke, David Beckham is not that expensive, since he left the Man U, his level of play was complete down in the madrid and in the england team he is a complete mistake. He is more an actor or model that a soccer player, and thats the main reason of his transfer to LA, (Hollywood), he is a media produt more that a good soccer player.

I think that Beckham good days are almost over. He is 31 years old. In my opinion a football player gives his best at around 26-29 years of age. So it is a hefty sum of money for such a player. though Beckham is almost a celebrity and his image might help soccer in USA to become more popular

He is a great player at the tail end of his career. will it produce some extra attention in the us? yes. will it make soccer the most popular sport in the us? no way. he'll put some extra bodies in the stadiums. he'll boost sales on all aspects. but will he be worth his contract. i think you'll see the answer will eventually be no.

let's just let him prove it wether he's worth $250 million or just $250 ... it's not my money anyway, i won't bother with that since i only cares about his beautiful free kick, i don't cares about his fees, transfer money, future contracts, and others ... just enjoy the game, not the players ...

Really,I didn't know that soccer was that profitable in the US.I thought basketballers were over paid and footballers were underpaid for all the physical contact they endure. Now this deal is interesting to watch unfold. He,Bechham is smart for I am sure he will get his big paycheck regardless to the outcome of the games,it won't matter to him if the sport catches on or not.I think that's way too much money and I can't believe how America waste so much money, whole different topic.

None expect the record tranfer come from USA, which soccer isnt the #1 sports, so the money not as much as in the basketball. But with this tranfer record, he not only become the most expensive soccer player in USA, but in the world, so he should prove to the world that he worthed that much.

I don't think anybody is worth this amount of money. $250 million dollars can be better spent thatn some soccer player. I could see this project going down the tubes and they will feel they just wasted their money. Is it really going to do something to soccer in the USA and North America?
I didn't even know Los Angeles had a soccer team. What league is this?

personally, i dont think ANYONE is worth $250 million. i think its quite disgusting how actors, musicians, and sports stars make millions and millions of dollars a year for doing what they do. yah, ive heard arguments that what they do is difficult and not everyone can do it, but so is breaking your back for 18 hours a day lifting heavy equipment or cleaning or whatever else. im sure performing brain surgery is more difficult than singing a song. i mean, i understand that celebrities like these are going to make a lot more money than the rest of us because that's just how our society is, but some of their salaries are just ridiculous.

Who cares what he earns? This is only a game, which most people play for free. The people who really count ( ie those who help to save lives), do dangerous jobs all get paid parctically nothing. No one is worth that amount of money, no matter what they do.
Lets see him go down a coal mine and really learn what hard work is and probably earn as much in a year what he gets paid for a couple of minutes.

worth or not.. a very stupid question. first of all no human being can be compsared to the paper notes. on the other hand paying such a hige amt does nt matter till he perform accordingly.

Well i think, he is worth it. He's got tremendous amount of skills and has got plenty of experience. Unfortunately the time is not going with him, thats y he got thrown away from England national side first and then from Real Madrid. But he still managed to fill up his pockets with loads of money. There must be smthng in him, the LA Galaxy guys must not be stupid to sign such a massive deal with him!! But i think he's signed just for social status, so that he can ring in glory for that club. His skills won't be utilized over there. It wud hav been gud if he had signed a deal with sm European Club. Neways, lets c wht fate has in store for him...
