currently where I live a women gets a year off of work when she has a baby. But isn't it true that the first 5 years are the most crucial of a childs life? if this is true why do we have to hire someone else to raise our kids while we work. maturnity leave should be 5 years. I have two years and have had to go back to work before my kids turned a year old. It's really not right when the take there first steps and say there first words while we're at work. What do you guys think? should new mothers have more time off

I think that it is long enough. Most people cant afford to take off 5 yrs to raise their kids, and MOST places dont pay for maternaty leave. and if they do it wouldnt be for that long
