I was listening to my radio station yesterday and the discussion was Senator Obama. It was open forum for peoples opinion. There is always that one call that sets the phone lines on fire. A woman called to say she is not ready for a "black" president becuase she doen't like the way Cook County ( Chicagoland area) is run because their are black faces behind that. a lot of people were horrified of the call of course but she more than likely spoke for many people who just did not care to be on the radio to share their opinion.
We are still set in this day and age where as color makes a difference in how we choose our government and such. Everyone is Never going to agree on one same thing, there will always be people who feel a certain way about every president eg.. such as controversial issues with Clinton or Bush, must I go on?
I want the best candidate to win regardless of color. I would not choose him just to make a black statement for the world because my fear would be, if some life threatening decision is made based on what he feels is best and others don't agree, you can best believe that there are going to be many that have the racist thought of " This would not have happened if a white had won the presidency". ( Yes, you guessed it, I am black).
I just wish people would stop starting their sentences of with one of these phrases...
I am not predjudice or a racist but..
I have plenty of black friends ..
I have someone in my family that is black..
I have dated black...
Everyone has some form of predjudice in them ( maybe not race related) but None of the above statements clears you from being a racist.
