I know for children you should take them to the doctor, but what about for an adult? I don't have health insurance and I'm nursing...what can I do?

I have just now started getting ear ahces lately and I am an old adult. LOL I was told to use a heating pad to help with the pain, the heat stops the inflamation. Peroxide is what I have always had to use on my sons ears when he was young, he had real bad ear infections and tubes. The peroxide boils out the wax build up and the infection. Tip from past experience, make sure the peroxide is at least rooms temperature, cold peroxide will give you a jolt!

I have been bothered by my left ear which seems to have wax buildup in it. Thank you for mentioning about the peroxide as I was getting ready to start a discussion on how to cure wax build up in a ear. I will have to try this and see if it will clear my ear up. I have not had any ear aches.

Try the homeopathic stuff. A pharmacist should be able to help you with that. I also have a book...I'll get it out and see what I can find!

I've had ear infections before. A good thing to do is build up your immune system. I take Echinacea with Golden Root. It's a herbal supplement that is good for fighting infections. You can find it anywhere online or at a health food store. I take it when I feel like the onset of an infection might be coming. It works.

While it's probably safe, I'm just not comfortable taking herbal suplements while nursing.

This is gross but my grandma used to make me hold a dirty sock up to my ear. Hate to tell you but it worked. I have heard that if you warm a few drops of olive oil that works too. My husband had a terrible ear infection one time and I thought he was nuts but he asked me to drop a couple drops of peroxide. I refused until I called the doctors office and they told me to do it. I did and it worked real well. Good Luck.
