Going international at University

So I've reached a point in my life where my future is to be decided - University - Now it's not that I don't know what I want to do or be but it's a question of how. I have a keen interest in seeing the world and with living in the EU I have the possibility to go and study aboard legally for a year. I wondered if any of the MyLot community has had an experience of this or if they know anywhere thats good. Do you think I'm mad? What about further out, I'd love too see place like china and japan.
