Ok I have a friend that lets her 11 year old have a myspace account. Todays world you have so many people that are crazy enough to come after your child. I have a one year old and I know that there is no way that when she gets to be 11 that I would let her have one. I have one and I'm even thinking about closing mine because of the drama that people try to cause.

I do believe that there are a lot of sick people in this world and I understand thinking about my daughter who isn't a year old yet, but at the same time I think if they have an account and have friends from school or relatives on there an leave their profile under "private" then there isn't anything wrong with it. I do think that parents have the right to say yes or no, but it's just like an msn, yahoo, or aol messenger account. The same people can get to them if they aren't careful!

I have to agree to extent. I think 11 years old IS a little too young for Myspace but at the same time, keep the page private for only their friends to view keeps those unwanted away.

i would. i would trust my child enough and of course i would be involved with what she does. at 11 you still need to teach them the dangers of being online, which was something i learned on my own since my mother still has no clue on the internet. i would of course monitor their time on the computer and ask them whats going on. children need their space and as long as you spend time with them, they'll come to you when they need help.

O wouldn't allow my son to have one unless I had semi control over it. (I-e pass so I know who is contacting him ect.) Invasive, maybe? but I'd rather my a little invasive then have to go searching for my child after they've been lured by a pedofile.

I agree to some extent, although if the user is under 18 or 16 (can't remember exactly what one) there is an automatic privacy thing that comes up, so you need to know either the surname or e-mail address of the person you wish to add. So there is some security, so total strangers would find difficutly in adding them or getting into contact with them.
