Does anybody else have problems with foxes? I have foxes that live in the garden behind us, They wind my dog up like crazy, so all he does is bark, they keep pooping all over my garden and even come out during the day, they dig up all my flower beds as well, does anybody know how I can deter these animals, the rspca and the local council are not interested.

We don't have fox problem since they don't bother going to the city. If they did, they are considered lunch for other people.

I live just outside the city but we still have them, I just wish I knew how to get rid of them,it is driving my whole family insane because the dog is forever barking at them, foxes are very cheeky as soon as we let the dog out they go and when he comes back inside the house they come back again!

Thankfully not, we have four cats and one is a kitten and I'd be horrified letting her out if I knew there were foxes about. Trouble with foxes are, as we breakdown their natural habitat to make room for houses and estates, the food chain suffers, so they become more braver and people who litter streets with half-eaten burgers etc will only encourage foxes and rats even more and with bins left out with tasty scraps inside black bags definitely a bountiful feast for the would be vermin. I'm not surprised about the RSPCA. You've obviously tried to get through to their hotline number? Press 1 for cat, 2 for dog, 3 for rabbit, 4 for and so on, and you wait till you get to foxes (F) or worst still right at the end comes V for Vermin LOL. Foxes are NOT protected so I can't see why the council won't get involved, or is it the usual red tape, that it's not their responsibility phone the RSPCA, and the RSPCA say it's not their responsibility phone the council. Boy I love politics no one takes responsibility for anything anymore. Sorry I've slightly digressed. I hope you get your foxy problem sorted.

I think that you are right I am stuck in a red tape situation, as usual down to me to try and solve the problem, the foxes are not living in our garden but the garden behind ours. Our garden seems to be their playground, I have tried knocking at the house but no one is home, I have left my number, so hopefully they will ring me. Thank you for your response. :)

How sad! I live on the edge of a village on the coast and rarely see a fox, althoug when they were harvesting the field behind us I did have puppies come and hide in my garden. I like to see them but don't think I'd want to be overrun with them, can they be nasty? Would those things that make the anti rat/mole/cat noise work? or CD's on string making reflections. Those cats repellants might work, you pop them in your flowerbeds or around the edges and it puts them off could you find out if there is an essential oil that foxes don't like, I know for cats it's citronella. I hope you can find a peaceful way to get rid of their visits so they stop upsetting your dog.

When I lived in the country I never saw one fox, but maybe that's because they are able to roam freely in the fields, these London foxes are not scared of anything! LOL my dog grunts, snorts and runs up and down the garden after the foxes then when I bring him into the house the foxes come straight back to our garden, they even go next to my kitchen door and the dog lives in the kitchen! I would not like them hurt, just maybe rehoused somewhere else. Thank you for taking the time to answer my discussion. :)

I have seen foxes before when I have been out at night driving, I used to think they were nice until they moved in my garden, I am going to phone the health and safety tomorrow, Thank you for your advice, I was surprised by the councils reaction as well, I would imagine that they do spread diseases because they are forever going in the bins. Thank you for taking the time to reply to my discussion. :)

If anybody knows please tell us. I have one digging in my front yard. He is brazen. I go out witha broom to chase him and he turns around and gives me a look like "who do you think I am?"

I am hoping someone can help us both, the foxes here empty my bins better than the bin men. LOL I am scared to go out to my foxes, it is a family, the dad looks old and grey, but still very scary and not far behind him is the mum and I know for sure at least one baby. If you find out how to get rid of them before me please let me know. Thank you for your response. :)
