How do you come up with topics for myLot discussions?

Ah, that's easy ... say what's on your mind.
Like this first post of yours. After spending too much time wondering what to say, you finally just asked. It was right there in yer head all along.

I've been working on trying to post topics. It's hard, especially since I'm so busy, to try and post, and still do what I want, and come up with topics to post and keep up with those.
I think I need a break,lol.

Ah, yes ... a little time away from the keyboard is a good thing. It's good to have something else to do every now and then. Unfortunately, I often DON'T. lol

Yes, time away is good, but it's hard especially when I find that spending time online is what I do to unwind, and right now, it's how I'm paying for college expenses and everything else since I work online. So it's quite hard to stay away.

I found its easy to get just anything you might think its interesting from any of your daily activities. It might just a very normal incident you just witness or something funny happening in he place you stay..you might get lots of interesting responses from here:)

Very good point. I never looked at it that way, because pretty much anything can be discussed here. So thanks for the tip!!

Well for one always keep a pen and paper to write down your thoughts for one even if you aren't near the computer. Try it this really helps and this way you won';t forget. You can also try different types of topics to see what you get responses for! Don't give up and don't think too hard about it and just write them!

I am new to mylot also and tried out different topics today that differnt friends and I have had converstations about just to find out what other people's opinions were . I try to use stuff from my own experiences that I have discussed before so I can add something myself to the topic , but I agree it is hard coming up with different topics . I find the more cotroversial the topic the better it seems to get the attention of other's .

I usually post about current issues or problems I come across, just because its interesting to see so many people's views. Just post things that are random...like I just seen a post that said do you keep the money left in the laundry? Lol lots of people have things to say about something they can relate to.

I just go through books and newspapers and the ideas for discussion come in to my mind while doing that.I take them down on a rough paper just for a reminder. And when i am on mylot i refer to it and post them as discussions.

I just ask a question thats been on my mind or a problem I've been having. You can talk about anything you want to here. Talk about a favorite book, a new game you got, or a movie thats coming out you wanna watch. There are discussions about everything you should have no problem thinking of topics for discussions. Good luck!~

I rarely start a new discussion. I respond to other's discussion rather than starting a new one. But whenever I have something in mind, I write it in a piece of paper, and when I turn on the computer, I try to gather all my thoughts and start a new discussion. I do not force myself to start a new discussion. Because if I do, there is a possibility that the new discussion will not make any sense at all.
Sometimes, when I hear something from the news or there is a new quote or movies perhaps, I start a new discussion. Whenever I have problems, and I would like to ask others' opinions, I start new discussions. :)

Till now I started only a few discussions.... I'm not like people who start a lot of discussions hoping that many users respond and so can make a lot of money, I start only discussions I think could be interesting or funny and in which I have something to say or something to ask.
I usually spend my time responding to the discussions of the other myLot users, I prefer it than starting discussions, I have no great ideas to start new ones.... I've just start one about a teacher sacked because she is a Wicca follower. This is a subject I interest much and I hope to receive responses not much to make money, but because I need different opinions from mine.

Another possibility would be to do your normal surfing and every time you chance upon an interesting word or idea or just about anything, try to comment on it by starting a discussion.
You will find that there is really an endless number of topics you can start. Take heart and have fun! ;-)

It looks like you have posted enough that you will have some good responses. My mistake when I was new was starting discussions too soon. I did not have any friends, and some perfectly good ideas just languished, with no attention. I know they were good, because others posted them later, and got mega responses. Add some friends, if you haven't already, then tell us all about you. My best discussion so far has been about driving in all kinds of weather. If you can make something general enough most people can respond, it will be a really good discussion. I also see that besides controversy, pets get good responses. Happy posting

Usually my discussion ideas come from what's on my mind. When I need advice, I'll post a question. Or if I'm curious if others think the same about something- that's a topic to post. I wouldn't worry too much though...I've seen some pretty odd questions.

I haven't started any discussions myself, yet, but the time will come when I decide to dip my toes in the water, so to speak. Most of what is limiting me right now is the fact that I'm not sure where to start.
My thoughts on what I would post tend to lean towards subjects where I have a strong opinion. Generally, that tends to be at least marginally controversial topics. More than likely it would come from a news item I had read/heard/saw somewhere and got me to thinking.
My thoughts may get revised and/or expanded at some point in time, but that's currently where I'm at.
My $0.02 at the moment.
