Do you find yourself disciplining like your parents did?

When my girls were younger I would never discipline them like I was. My dad was an abuser and when he hit me he used anything he could get his hands on and if there wasn't nothing around it would be his fist. I tried really hard. I would spank my girls with my hand but not more then one pop. They seem to get the idea. My mother use to spank us but wouldn't quit until we had bruises. I don't think the time out thing works but I would never had hit my kids the way my parents did. I did turn out fine though.

I don't spank my daughter as much as they spanked me. It doesn't work on her. She gets sent to her room instead.

Be a good example as a parent and you don't have to discipline you kids. They do, what they understand. Help them to undrestand. Punishment is not working with kids and pets. Love and learn.

Not really I don't recall my mom every disciplining us ever ok wait I do recall her having a discussion with me one time about an issue.

My children are raised and married now. I tried really hard to be a good parent. I took the good things that my parents had to offer and added upon it. I did not discipline like my parents did. I was a talk things through kind of parent.

My parents did not discipline me at all. So now I try to find creative ways that work to discipline my own children. I don't like disciplining at all, but I know that it's a must to give the child some.

For the most part I don't discipline like my parents however there have been times when I've said things to my neice (who I help raise) that I hated hearing from my parents. Usually once it leaves my mouth I walk away knowing that it is not a good way to handle things. It didn't work for me and I try not to use it with my neice.
