It appears that traitor Sammy Sosa is going to come back to major league baseball with the Texas Rangers. Cubs fans will recall his infamous exit from the team in 2004 when he left during the last game of the season! I was a huge Sammy fan, but no more. What do you think? Will he get his 12 homers and have 600 total for his career?

Oh, he'll make the team. If for no other reason than he's still a money draw. Wonder if he quit the steroids?

I"m not sure if he'll make it on the team, but if he does i'm certain he will probably reach 600 career homeruns. He is still the best Cub of all time.

Good Gracious , man ! You speak Blasphamy!! I think Sammy would have to take a back seat to Mr. Cub,Ernie Banks, and even Ryne Sandberg and Ron Santo. history will not be kind to Sammy. He had that one remerkable season and a few very, very good ones. That doesn't make himt he best cub ever. corked bat and all.

I must agree with you there. History will not be kind to Sosa. When you compare numbers you could make a case for Banks as well as Sosa. But i bet the Cubs franchise made lots and lots of money when Sosa was playing for them. And like any other sport, it all comes down to money. Sosa won more awards then Banks, Santo, and Sandberg. Santos stats are pretty average. He was a productive player in his 15 year career, but his numbers don't even compare to those of the other three. Heres what i got when i compared all three players stats Sosa 17 Seasons RUNS 1422* H 2304 HR 588* RBI 1575 SB 234 Banks 19 Seasons RUNS 1305 H 2583* HR 512 RBI 1636* SB 50 Santo 15 Seasons RUNS 1138 H 2254 HR 342 RBI 1331 SB 35 Sandberg 16 Seasons RUNS 1318 H 2386 HR 282 RBI 1061 SB 344* So Sosa leads in homeruns and runs. Banks leads in hits and rbi's. If Sosa had played (still can) two more seasons he would surpass Banks in Rbi's. He would only need 61. He most likely wouldnt pass Banks in Rbi's. Sosa won more major awards than did Banks, and has by far more stolen bases. And Sandberg was the best defensive player of the three. So all i'm saying is that i believe Sosa was the best Cub of all time. And like i said before you could make a case for Banks. Since Banks made it into the Hall Of Fame so should Sosa.

I'd say that Sammy's days as a great player are done. He struggled bigtime with the Orioels, and I just don't see him doing well with the Rangers.

Sammy Sosa will probably hit 28 homers for the Rangers this year, but he will also probably bat about .220 and strikeout 200 times. He was a great player in his time, but Sammy could just as easily be known as Sam me Sosa because, it was always about him and winning was always secondary. He blew his kisses too the fans and played it up, but when the chips were down, Sammy showed his true metal by skipping out on his team.

he'll get the 12 dingers if he makes the team. But he is just a shadow of his former juiced self. I was never a fan and am less so now. I wish him the best in his comeback attempt, but I won;t be holding my breath.

Sammy had a hard time dealing with what most superstars have a hard time dealing with. Reality. It appears that he has come to terms with that and is trying to get back in with the team he started with, with a contract that he turned down last year from Washington. He will probably need the 12 home runs to get someday into the hall of fame, and with Texas and as a DH he should get them.

Yea he has a big advantage playing in the American League because of the designated hitter rule. So Sammy could be a decent DH if he gets back into shape, running, bat strength, and bat speed.
