Onetime we had some relatives over ,and they were (still are) VERY rich (multimillionaire) ,so I was casually bragging about my achievments in university study ,and one of these relatives asked "one good thing about having money is that you dont need an education, that's only for poor people"
I laughed then, thinking she couldn't have been serious (since she herself was in law-school and was an excellent student), but now I sometimes wonder ,if I had ALL I would ever need and more , would I still pursue knowledge and try to learn more ?I used to wish I was rich to learn all there is to learn , but I'm no longer so sure ,getting money can be so difficult that once one gets it ,its hard to not just indulge in comfort and leisure far from the toil of learning and school.
What do you think? Do we want a good education just to make money?

Yes I would. I enjoy educating myself. I am constantly trying to improve my knowledge by learning learning learning. To me the Internet is a wonderful tool for doing just that.

If I had alot of money I would probably take every course that I found interesting.
You never know when you will lose all your money through some catastrophe and it would be good to have alot to use to restore your lifestyle.
These days, most people get a college education so that they can have a better job so it is all just for the money. I am sure that is why the world is in such a state. not enough people are getting educated so that they can actually think better or on more complex levels.

I want a good education to make money, but also I like learning. I have graduated from school many times -- I feel education is important.

On the contrary, I would become a professional student and pursue every degree I could in the area of all my interests. How wonderful it would be to attend college without the extra stress of financing my education.
By the way - good job on your university achievements. That is wonderful - and just keep in mind - if your relative wasn't rich the perspective would have been totally different. One more thing I have learned in my life is to no longer judge a mans success on his bank account and holdings, better to view his/her success on the quality of their lives, friends, and causes, I know some very rich people who have but a mere pittance of money to their name. Good luck, keep learning and growing. Best wishes :)

if the only the reason why we have to go to school, is just to prepare us to get into good jobs that would make us millions of money, then it would seem that the rich have no business anymore of getting an education, right?
but money isn't everything. it's very liquid, and may all be gone in a blink of an eye. if weren't able to get an education, how do you think are we going to cope with this situation?
getting into school has many other advantages, like, it makes us see what our potentials are and develops them, it helps us in preparing our own future so that when our time comes, we'd be able to stand with our own two feet.

I like learning for learnings sake. I think it is interesting to learn new things and for me has nothing to do with getting money. Sure somethings I learn may lead there but the learning it self is fun and interesting and I would do it even if I rich and had not a care in the world.

Well, I am a college student, I have been on an off ever since i graduated from highschool in 2001. I finally decided to go ahead and finish after years of working minimum jobs, and living the fast life. Education is important, reguardless if you come from money or not, If you don't have any education and have no idea how the world works, whose to say that you won't get cheated or even go bankrupt one day? Everyone needs something to fall back on. Having and education only helps you to learn and feed your brain with knowledge. I wouldn't care if i had 5 trillion dollars and could buy anything i ever dreamed of I would still take up something to learn, maybe business to better help me with my money, or whatever.

NO! not at all!! i dont think schooling or going to a college is just for earning money...if this was the only reason why would rich people send their children to school??
Well we need a school we need a college they are all essential
School is the platform which builds ones personality without the school this isnt possible
Schools also help us learn how to be a social animal how to behave with people..how to stand tall in difficult times..
Colleges teach us to be self dependent.they give us knowledge ...the knowledge without which we are incomplete
My father always said:
never save money for children because if they are good enough they can earn it for themselves
and if they aint they can ruin whatever u save
So the point i wanna make is education is the platform to ones money earning but it is also the platform to ones personality..So education is the most important part of life

The reason i am studying is that i want to work on well paid job, maybe even have my own company. My father has his own company and its doing great but i still want to have my own. Because i want to be boss. To tell you the truth i think that most of the people are learning for money. But if i was a multimillionaire i would go to school because when i get all the fortune one day i want to know how to be wise and dont spend it quick.

Well, this is one topic I have a firm opinion on.
Education basically moulds you, and if you do use it properly, it can give you a luxorious and lavish life.
And even if your family has a thriving business, becoz of which you are rich, one day it is going to come down to you to run the business and for that you are going to need education!!
Also education teachs you your culture and instills discipline in you. Without education you will find it hard to mingle socially!!

these days, anyone can get rich even without earning a college or university degree. people want to follow the examples of bill gates and other self-made billionaires who dropped out of school. people ask, "if they can do it, why can't i?"
The Internet has made it possible for anyone without a college degree to get rich. But I think education is still very important in this world, because nobody can take knowledge away from you. Education will make other people look up to you and respect you.
