I just paid $140.00 for a book for one business class, another class wants $70.00 for a little computer book. This is only a small community college too (not private).. I was talking to a friend who goes back to his home country to order textbooks and they are only about 10 dollars... why do we get ripped off when it comes to these things like books, drugs, health care, taxes, even renting a stupid apartment is becoming an major issue. Even an elctronic book (eBook) of the same textbook was $79.00!!! its pure robbery..

The word for you is EBAY. Textbooks are the biggest ripoff ever. They say because of the low production numbers and high costs, they have to charge that much. It's not true. The industry charges that much because they can. they have low numbers, but high profits. Ebay offers a way to get most texbooks for a lot less than retail. . Or Amazon. There really is no reason to get a new book these days and pay a new book price. If you wind up falling in love with the book, you can always sell yours later and use the proceds to buy a new copy. Ha! Fat chance. It's like new CD's. Not much sense in buying new ones anymore.

oh, i will defintely re sell it on amazon, but they always update to newer EDITIONS so that you cant keep using older used books. alot of the books on amazon are older editions, unfortunately. I asked my teacher if i coiuld pick up the fifth edition instead of sixth, and she said no way :(

Think that is bad, try being a science major. Where the textbook can cost $200!
