Sqeaking brakes

I have a 1997 Toyota Corolla and the brakes sqeak bad when I stop. I took it too a brake shop and they told me the brakes are fine, but are squeaking because the rotors have a glaze on them. Is there something I can spray on to remove the glaze or stop the sqeaking? It is driving me nuts. I bought the car because of the gas prices, but with the sqeaking, I still drive my gas hog most of the time.
