What's your view on giving toddlers softdrinks/cola?

I think there's no need to rush in introducing sodas/softdrinks to babies and toddlers. I am actually against it because of its effects. My mother-in-law insists that I give my 2-year old daughter sodas.

I am sure it is better to keep children away from such soft drinks as long as possible because of their effects

i've read about its effects and dangers. scary, even for us adults. i would want to keep them away from my kids, but people around me keep offering (sigh). i just wish my kids don't get addicted to it once they've tried it when they're a bit older.

I agree with you 100%! I don't let my kids have any kind of soda pop. My daughter is four years old and she has tried soda a few times because of someone else going behind my back and giving her some. Since day one I have been against my kids drinking pop and have told all family that I don't want them drinking pop at all. Some of my family members feel that it's okay to let my daughter have soda pop when we go out to eat or when we have a get together. My kids drink milk, water, koolaid, and juice. That is all I buy. If pop is giving to them, its behind my back. My sister usually lets my daughter have a few sips of her pop when she is over. They seem to do it when I turn my back. They think its funny, but I honestly don't like the idea of my kids drinking pop at all. So I do agree with you. It's not healthy.

you are right about not giving babies soda its really harmful for them , they should drink only milk (and probably water ;)) because soda isn't good for there teeth and bones and really don't think that's will be a big problem if you gived them a lil amount of soda to drink
