Is it ok to settle down w/heterosexual partner even parents do not know yet?????

I have a friend who told me that she will settle down with her heterosexual partner of 2 years. Her siblings knew the relationship unfortunately her parents do not know it yet. Her parents is quite conservative and doesn't approve of this kind of relationship. How could she open and discuss it with her parents?
