Peer pressure happens when friends or acquintances put pressure on you to do something you may not want to. Positive peer pressure infliuences you to do things that are actually good for you (going to mass, joining study groups, charitable work, etc.). Negative peer pressure always ends up harming you and/ or others (cutting class, cheating, stealing, etc.) The pressure comes from the risk of being rejected if you dont go along.
Christian counselors suggest this emergency response to pressure from peers: say NO as quikly as you can, and get as far as possible from the situation. This way, you give yourself and others little time to change your mind and give in.
