I believe it's time that we consider Linux for an alternative to Microsoft OS. Linux has released the most stable desktop OS in Ubuntu. It includes an free office package in Open Office, a Image Editor in GimpShop and other open source softwares which are equivalent of their propriety counterparts. It's virtually virus-free, and it's faster than any MSoft OS.

Linux is the best as it has more security features as compared to Windows. It is not easy to get into a network running on Linux as compared to Windows. However, if you are through with the operating system in Linux then its good else the GUI of Windows is much better.

The best operating is definitely LINUX. Its more secure and faster. It has one open source code so that we can do many changes according to our needs. Its has one thing wrong that its not very user friend. Please correct me if Im wrong.

linux has softwares equivalent to windows.. many are using windows both in offices and at home.. windows is proprietary, meaning you have to pay for it.. on the other hand, linux is used in some offices to decrease the cost for software and OS license.. some have it at home.. linux is open source and so are the components and the license.. if i am going to suggest, ill be having the two OS.. just be sure to partition the disk, and have the first OS in partition A and the other one in partition B...

i enjoy working on windows xp platform, its not so intricate and there is no commands to learn.like linux you should learn many commands and security is also very less in linux.go for windows it is more userfriendly and security i also good.games are also supported by windows so choose xp which is better and it has all the inbuild softwares in it,we need not install any drivers etc.

it really depends on what suits your needs, well for example if your a gamer and planning on playing all the mainstream games for PC then Linux is not for you since very few of the mainstream games are being ported to Linux....but if youll just be using your computer for web surfing basic office stuff or maybe putting up your own web server then Linux is good enough for you since its much more secure than windows after all :) Good Luck
