A few days ago I decided that, after a number of years I of sitting behind a desk and getting a business going, I would join a gym and try to get my 47 year old body in shape.
My wife and kids thought it was a great idea but a friend suggested that I should see a doctor first to get a checkup. That proved to be a life changing decision.
The doctor sent me for some blood tests and through in a heart ct scan to be thorough as I had felt a bit tired recently. After doing the tests in the morning, expecting to receive the results the following week, I received a call that afternoon to see my doctor that afternoon as I had significant coronary heart disease.
Next day I was attending a coronary specialist arranging for me to be admitted to hospital for and angiogram and possible surgery.
The trouble is is that once heart tissue is dead it can't be regenerated so even if the arteries are cleared I will carry the effects hereafter.
While some folk unfortunately suffer this type of disease through genetic reasons, my cause is a failure to take care of my self.
Don't think that you can start doing this later, if you are like me, with business and family commitments years can pass before you get around to it and the damage may be done.
I have learned that in this case prevention is everything.

wow, you made me feel like I should go and get a checkup asap. You're right, I spend a lot of time and money on making sure my kids keep all their appointments and I have neglected to take care of myself.
