CAS - condition access system

hello frenz
alot has been talked bout the intoduction of CAS and its effects on the cable channel providers wit respect to benefit of the subscribers..
everyone requested to kidly post somethings bout wat is this condition access system,how it works and will anybody really benefit by this latest tech or is it just the publicity gimmick attended by our local "SYSTEM"

CAS or conditional access system is a good move by the govt that will ban the monopoly of cable operators
its a simple system wherein you pay just for the channels you are ggoing to watch, and not as per the cablewala pules......the system consists of an access box known as the set-top box which will have the info about your account and control the input of the tv.......you have to pay a fixed amount as rental which gives you some(about 60 i think) free-to-air channels, and if you want the pay channels then you have to buy then at a cost of roughly rs 5 per channlel.....the amount will go to the cable wala but he cannot demand more as you will get a printed bill from the company, also if u have a line defect u can just deactivate the account and switch to another operator by using the same set top box.......

but wat bout areas lik andheri wer lobbying takes place is it possible to shift operators so easily???umm i guess its not dat easy
