Lonely death

When a lovable and loyal housecat knows that his or her time is almost up, the cat will then sneak away from the master (usually at night) to find a place to die alone. Some people believe that the cat does this as an act of gratitude and prevent their master to feel sad.
Have you ever have this simmilar experiance with your previous pets?

I have not had that experience before and did not realize it.
As you know, there are other animals that do this as well.Of course the first one to come to mind is the elephant.I am sure there are many more.
Welcome to MyLot and thank you for the info.
