This goes to all who are working in a call center? How do you find the job? Is it challenging or not at all? Me, I find my job very challenging because I am a retention agent. You need to really hear out your customer before you can assist them and you have to have the patience and charisma so that they will stay with you on the phone. Can anyone share their experiences?

When I used to take calls, I never found it to be boring because I get to speak with different people and there are times that some of the customers let me in on what goes on in their lives. It's like I'm talking to someone I've known for a long time and that we're simply catching up on each other's lives. I now monitor the calls handled by our agents and it's a different story now. It's a bigger responsibility and I love it all the same.

Good job, madmooney. I really want to have the job that you're having right now. I also like ot listen and rate agents about their calls. If you don't mind, what call center are you in? Can you give me advices so that I can also grab a QA post here in my company?

The qualifications depend on the company. Some require their applicants to be college graduates, while others allow undergraduates to apply. A good communication skill is a must, though. Working in a call center is not just interesting, it's crazy. And I mean it in a good way. It's like riding a rollercoaster. One minute you're getting a compliment from a customer and the next minute you're getting threats. The only thing I hate about it is dealing with customers who don't listen and those who give racially discriminating remarks.

call center girl - the first job I had
Hello Sharon. I used to be a call center agent. I receive calls from people in the US and Canada. I find it very challenging given the fact that English is not my native tongue. However, I found it fun and I learn a lot from it. I learned and understood their culture, I know when they are mad, when they are frustrated and I've learned to handle the conversations well. If may not be right but some have also added me on facebook and made friends with me. LOL.It felt so good to talk to different persons on the other part of the globe. I'm working an entire different job now, I no longer take phone calls, I don't talk to customers anymore. As a matter of fact, I don't even have a phone on my desk! But those were the days. I look back to that job and am thankful that I was one a call center girl. :)
