Why Talk With a Psychic?????

As many of you know by now, I make a good portion of my living as a psychic / Tarot reader. There is a phenomenon that has me baffled. Why do ladies contact me to find out if they are or will get pregnant? Now I am not talking about people who live where they cannot get a home pregnancy test or don't know the mechanics of getting pregnant. I am talking about people who have alot of other options and should get off their butts...can I say butts on here?....and go get a test. I know quite a few readers will go ahead and do a reading on this but I just cannot bring myself to do it. It runs contrary to my ethics to do readings on things that can be handled in the real world on a practical level. How many of you have areas that you will refuse to do readings on because of your ethical boundaries? How many of you have had psychics talk you into readings where they weren't really necessary?

I've read for quite awhile and have had several women ask about pregnancies. I won't answer them either. Pregnancy is really a practical matter and they need to ask themselves such questions as: Am I healthy? Can I financially handle a new baby? Can I emotionally handle it? Can my partner handle it? Often if they really answer those questions, honestly that is, they find things in their life they need to work on before having a child. Then once the issues are resolved they get pregnant! But I must say, one of my most irksome calls was a woman who wanted to know who, among several men, was her baby's father!

I think you are right; you should not cross your boundaries just go by the ethics and ethical....

The problem (one of many) with our culture is A) we are lazy butts and B) we are doubters. The folks that ask you for this are one of the two categories above. I do not help those who will not help themselves. That means not reading for the doubters or the lazy. When I read it is a gift and I only share special gifts with those who I trust. Probably why I will never make a living reading.

OH I TOTALLY agree with you. I do several different things to make aliving because I just refuse to deal with the people you have mentioned. I have known readers who will read for anyone who will pay them. I just can't fathom doing that. Takes all the flavor and meaning out of your craft, you know? I didn't spend time developing my "gift", beyond my innate abilities, to then become a psychic Wal-Mart. I do, however, believe in getting paid fairly for doing readings.

Honestly, I'm a bit overprotective of my gift. I've made the mistake of reading for the wrong people before and saw things that I did not want to see. There's always a chance of something unpleasant happening but this was more like a nightmare that I couldn't forget Lately, I just don't tell people I can red at all unless it comes up in a pointed manner. I offer to red for those who I trust and who need it, but other than that, I guess I'm just greedy/guarded with it.

I feel the same way you do SageMother and I also have a problem with any intimate love questions too like "will I find my dream man" and that type thing...I really dont know why other than the fact that questions like that drive me up the wall on all levels for some reason...I think because i always get the impression that ppl like that/that ask those questions are trying to find happiness OUTSIDE themselves rather than within and that is something I refuse to support if that makes sense...

Don't you want to ask them when the last time was that they left the house? Many people will get pretty disappointed when I tell them that, during the time they are going through a transition, it is their time to redicover the parts of themselves they have left undeveloped, because they have been searching outside of themselves.

A lot of psychics online put a disclaimer on their website stating that, they do not do readings on pregnacies, and it is best to go to a doctor. I agree it is best not to answer pregnancy questions. Keep in mind people talk to pyschics when they have no one to turn to or don't want other people to know what is going on with them.

well i havnt been to a psychi yet for fear of what they would be saying to me.i think as u say we must ask only questions which r practical instead of asking whether they will get preggerrs or not.tht they can easily find out for themselves.well am not a psychic .but i hav seen my mom who is a superstitious lady go to some astrologers seeking advice for every nitwit thing.some people are like tht.

I can understand asking "Will I get pregnant?" but not "Am I pregnant?" Obviously anyone can go buy a pregnancy test and find out if they're pregnant. It's a waste of your time and energy to read for that. However, if someone is having a lot of problems getting pregnant, I could see doing a reading for them. Something along the lines of "What is blocking me from achieving pregnancy?" Sometimes there's something going on in their lives that they don't even see as related to the problem, but that could be. Bleh. I've had people ask me to read for some pretty idiotic stuff to. I have friends who want me to read for their business prospects, when they aren't even doing anything to get the actual business started. I don't even do readings professionally, so it irks me even more that they're wasting my time with something that's obviously not important enough to me them to put any work into it.

I had a reading once. I just did it to see what it would be like. He asked for a piece of jewelry that I bought for myself. I gave him a ring. He rubbed it all over his face. It was very cool the things he picked up on. I had a good friend who had this car and the door was really hard to open. I could never open it. And he was somehow able to pick that up. He also knew it was a dark car. My parents were moving my Grandparents that weekend. I asked about them. He asked where they were I kept telling him and he was like they are not there. I cant pick them up there. ANd he was right they were two hours away. I pretty much did it for fun just to see what it was like. I guess I was a pretty easy person to read. I also had an open mind Looks like you can say butt but I bet a$$ is out of the question! LOL

I too do readings professionally and I will refuse to do them for what I call "psychic addicts". You know the people who come in with the same problems again and again and they want you to read for them 3xs a week, or call you up when they have something that like sagemother put it "can be handled in the real world on a practical level". I think some people view psychic readings as a kind of "insurance". I dont understand why someone would need to know if they are pregnant, maybe they are just to impatient to wait for a test lol. What I could see though is someone who is pregnant asking when they are due since due dates can be so iffy. (I can see this by the way because I am pregnant and the doctors cant seem to agree on my due date at my clinic. While I understand that this isnt as exact of a science as the doctors would like us to think it is, I would really like to know when the baby is coming for my own peace of mind so I could definately understand someone asking that.) I think I could also see someone with fertility issues asking because it can be so heartrending to go through attempting to concieve and never being able to. I have never been read but I wouldnt ever let myself be talked into something like that if I didnt want it. (Except for my 13th birthday party when we called the 1-800 psychic number. The first three minutes WERE free but you were on hold for those minutes lol. My butt was toast and the read wasnt even accurate!)
