We do not have school uniforms in any of our schools here but there has been talk of it for years .
I think school uniforms would be a great idea . I think this would illiminate the feeling of inadequacy for some children when there parents cannot afford to buy the high quality clothes that the other children wear . I always try to buy the best for my children but do realize that there are parents out there who cannot afford to do the same for their children . Also children can be so cruel to each other that this is just another way to pick on another child because of what they wear ?
Do you have school uniforms in the schools you are from and if not would you like to see them in your schools ? What are your opinions on this ?

Most of our schools here in the Philippines have uniforms and are pretty strict to their rules. I for one has always been in my school uniform from Pre-school, elementary, high school, and even in college. I do agree with you, it's really a great idea to eliminate the feeling of superiority of those kids who come from well off families and the feeling of inferiorities of those who come from families with tight budget. It could also establish the image of the school they are studying at.

We do not have school uniforms here either. However, I agree it would be a great idea in making the kids less subjective to teasing and bullying about their clothing. I know for a fact though, that my 3 children would no doubt hate it. My oldest especially is very keen on expressing her individuality and mostly it is done through what she wears.

Here in Australia, you have to wear uniform in most of our schools. It definitely has it's advantages. Kids don't have to decide what they are going to wear every morning. And also they are not going to get picked on because they are different and mum can't afford the expensive brand name clothes etc..... Even though the kids are in uniform, there is still a social standing with the types of shoes they have.
The school my daughter goes to has a pretty relaxed uniform. No ties or blazers etc.... Basically school colours. She wears a polo shirt and black pants/shorts etc...
Also, when kids are in uniform, you are able to distinguish which school they are from.
I know that the kids where you are from will not like the change, but change is good for kids. They will adapt.

Yes, we have uniforms in almost all the schools in our country. Even at many instutions, dress code is there for Graduation as well as post graduation courses.
I think school uniforms should be made mandatory in every school. Uniforms diminish the difference of rich and poor, or greater and smaller or superior and inferior. In uniform, everybody looks alike, and this is what should be there. At least at schools, kids learn from uniform that everybody is similar. Uniforms also also represents integrity!

Well I don't have to wear a uniform to school but I still think it is stupid to wear one because people want their own style not everyone elses unless they are a wanna be.

here in Scotland the schools all have uniforms , I too think it is a great idea m my granddaughters are 13 and 17 and they have told me about children who have nothing and they would have been ridicules because there would be wearing designer brands , I think it is lovely to see them off to school in the uniforms especially on the first day at school . | have school pictures every year of my 4 grandchildren xx

You really have said it well and are correct with your statements on how other children ridicule other children for not having the latest fashions or labels. Uniforms would stop this behavior. Kids have a hard enough time with self-image issues.

My daughter had to wear a uniform in elementary school. It was great for me because she could dress herself for school, and there were no arguements over what she would be allowed to wear. i know the kids hated it because there was nothing stylish or expressive about wearing navy blue and khacki. There were still the students that wouldn't abide by the rules and the parents that opted out of making their children wear them. I think that it would be a really good idea in schools where the discipline is a problem or in the poor schools. I especially think it would be good in high school where the kids are wearing so little clothing it is scarey. I hope when my daughter gets into high school they are still wearing clothes. At the mall I see girls almost naked walking around. I live in Florida, it is hot most of the time and people wear the skimpiest clothes.
I think school uniforms are a good idea for everyone. The kids can be focused on what they are learning instead of worrying about what they are wearing.

As my older children are in private school, yes, they wear uniforms, and I love it. 1)no hassle about what you have to wear today. 2) no competition about who has the best clothes. (although shoes, handbags jewelry and cars really come into play. 3) don't have to worry about inappropriate clothing. yThe first year I paid about 500 each for clothing, but after that, only about 130 each year, as they can wear the same uniform as last year.
It does make for a lot more laundry, as the kids will change into regular clothing after school, so at least 2 outfits a day, but I would say it is worth it,

I think all schools should have uniforms. kids can be so cruel and not all kids will come in with top notch cloths that are designer cloths and yes some kids come in with these type of cloths. Some of the kids come from homes whose parents can't afford this type of clothing. They will be teased and things will be said to them from other kids. Kids go to school to learn not to make a fashion statement so uniforms would be the best way to stop kids getting picking on other children because of what they are wearing.

I love the idea of school uniforms for many reasons. Not the least of which you have already mentioned. Other reasons would include, school spirit - school identity.. and for young ladies they would not have to waste so much time needlessly pondering "what am I going to wear today" and their mothers won't have to deal with the 5 outfits tried on and thrown to the floor in haste as the bus approaches!
The school my son attends does have uniforms, and it makes it so much nicer for everyone.

I really Like the School Uniform idea....My kids dont have that at there school but I wish they....With Uniforms I feel No one is being put down for the way they look or dress because they are all the same. I think all schools should have this, and besides it really saves on the cost in the end!
Thank you

I think they are great in teaching children the importance of proper dressing habits, but public schools should not have to have them only private and religious school, public school shold have a strickter dress code like not allowing boys to wear baggy pants and not to let girls show too much skin.
