Poedophelia - How Should We Deal With It?

I have seen an elderly man who regularly visits the children's park where I take my nephew occasionally. This man was staring at the kids playing there. First, I thought he came there with his grandchildren, but one day, I was shocked to see him abusing a young boy (perhaps 6 or 7 years old) in a secluded place in the park. I did shout at the man and warned him that I would report it the next time i spot him in the park. I have never seen him again in the park, but I feel I should have reported it then itself. He must be visiting other parks and abusing children. I wonder how we should really deal with poedophiles. Can we afford to show any sympathy towards them? Share your views.

No we should not show them any sympathy. They do not show any to their victims. They need to be stopped from the start. If I saw something similar I would have yelled at the man and then yelled for the cops as loud as I could. I'd probably tackle him too to keep him there till help arrived. I hope the child he was abusing was all right. That had to be horrible for him. Hopefully no other little boy will have to go through the same thing from him.

Sympathy?? Do they show sympathy when they rape young children or teenagers?? No way man, no sympathy for them! I think if I would've seen him, i would've punched him myself! Those monsters should rot in jail for the rest of their lives!

You were wrong not to have called the police immediately and then apprehended the man personally. These are vile sick individuals and should be shown no mercy by anyone who has proof of what they are doing. Nobody has the right to abuse any child, either mentally or physically. How would you have felt had it been your nephew he was abusing? Had that been the case you would have shown him no mercy, and the same should apply to every child, who do need to be protected from these animals. If you can remember anything at all about this man, then you should still inform the authorities. If indeed he is visiting other parks in the district, they will have a chance of apprehending him. Always remember that these people are evil, and they should be shown no compassion or sympathy.

If I were you, I would still try to report what you have seen to the police. This way, the police will know that they need to look out for this man who is abusing children. You don't realize how many other children he may have done this to already and still is doing this. I will not bash you down for not doing this, but, as an abuse survivor, I will say that the best thing to do is to report no matter what you said to him or not. Also, he may be someone who is either registered or suppose to register and hasn't, so this is another good reason to report him. He is probably offending again because he has a problem, and these type of people need to be put away for good. Just my two cents.

How could you stand by and do nothing????? It should have been reported IMMEDIATELY! I'm at a loss to even wonder why someone wouldn't have called the authorities and tried to rescue the child. Where were his parents or caretaker? I'm a mother of grown children, and I would have been on my cell phone calling 911. Why would we give sympathy to these people--do they give sympathy to our unsuspecting children? Molestation stays with an individual all their lives. I will never understand why someone would do this to a child. We need to have stiffer laws and punishments, but not sympathy!!
