I always wondered whether it was better to respond to a discussion or add a comment when I had something to say - in terms of getting more money on mylot. I know that's not purpose of writing (to get money), but if I 'm going to write something anyway... I'd like to know how to get paid the most.
Has anyone figured this out?

I am wondering the same thing I mostly just respond to a discussion because I know that I get paid for that but the other I don't know.

yeah, I usually just respond too since I know that I get paid and it boosts my posting number. Does commenting raise your post number as well?

yes one comment in a discussion will count towards your number.

For me, I've always found that it is easier to get paid by responding. It also tends to make your earnings more stable, meaning that if you just post topics I think that your earnings will vary a lot more depending on what kind of replies you get, and how mnay you get. If you just do responses, I've found that at least for me, I usually make around the same amount. Although my earnings did double for a few weeks, then dropped back to what I used to earn when I first started, and I don't get why since I have not changed anything about what i do here.
Another reason it is easier to earn by responding is that i am not sure that we get paid for starting a topic if no one replies, and it is possible to start a topic and have no one reply to it.
But if you like starting topics and you really enjoy that aspect of the site, just go for it! ^_^ I have found that i have definitely earned a little more on days that I have started popular topics! ^_^

The only thing I've truly noticed is that you DO get paid when you respond to a discussion the FIRST time. But lets say that you make a response back to me and I then in turn make another post to you...I DON'T get paid for the second time I post to your discussion. I don't know why. And I also noticed that you don't get paid for responding to someone that has posted in a discussion that you start. If you watch your #'s then you'll see it doesn't change.

That's funny. I agree too. there is no incentive to continue a discussion if they don't keep paying every time you comment or add a post.

I'm pretty sure they both earn you the same amount, as long as the post is more than 4 sentences. I have noticed, though, that if you add a comment the discussion does not get added to the list of discussions you've responded to. You must actually "respond" to the discussion for that to happen.

AHHHH.... that makes more sense now. I see. I didn't realize that it was just one point per post.
Is there any monetary compensation for making more than one post/comment in a discussion?

I almost forgot, you get a point for either one--but only one point per discussion.

I have always wondered the same thing but I don't know. I just do both and hope to gain some more money than the day befor. I get about only about 0.30 each day but thats' because I barely started about three days ago. I'll try to go investigate this matter further and I'll let you know if I learn anything. I do know of a girl who barely started and she made one dollar in a single day. She had posted 60 responses that day. I also know of another person who told me she made more money by responding to discussions but I don't know I'm still sticking to doing both of them. Maybe it's the same. Posting a comment and respondoing to a discussion..maybe they pay you equally. I know that the length of your response matters. One to three lines worth a response will not get you anything. It's best to do responses that are longer than four lines. Well good luck.

This would be to add to discussion. That make others money and then they look at your discussions and make you money! This was always fun!
