How long does it take you to read a book?

I'm not really asking who is the fastest reader. I wondering if others find life gets in the way of pleasure reading. I have always been a fairly fast reader, but it takes me longer and longer to read a book as I find less and less time to do so. I was wondering if others have the same problem with finding time to read. Particularly those who also work full time.

Well, I read a lot during my student years. I even considered myself a book addict. I could read a book in one day and one night. But that was when I was still a student. Now that I've worked, I still like to read, but it's not like the old days at all. Sometimes I even put off reading a good book. I don't know why. I just can't seem to finish one book in one week. And the irony of it all, I read books now not for pleasure but for money.

I read at an accelerated pace and have since I was a child but as I have gotten older and become a mother I don't get to read for pleasure as much as I like so I have gotten into the routine of reading for 1 to 1.5 hours before I go to bed I find it helps me unwind and I sleep better. Sometimes it takes all week to read one book other times only 1-2 nights I think a big part of the time is how long the book and the natural rythym of the writing itself.

I cannot properly say how much time it will take to finish top book because there are a lot of practice which will decide how much time it will take to finish of the book like the number of pages the book has, is the book interesting does this to the appeal so that I can keep on reading instead of putting an extra effort to keep on reading. Also on factor is how much time do I get to read the book because sometimes we get a lot of free time but sometimes we are so busy that we don't even get time to read the newspaper

It does take me much longer to read now than ever before. I do work full-time and stay on the internet all the time. I find to read before bed and when I am tired of being online. I enjoy reading and it is fine with me if it takes me a month now where it took 1 week to read one book.

Yes, I am also having that problem and the internet has slowed me down even more. But just like before I had the internet, It all depends on the book and I'm not talking about the length of the book, I'm talking about how exciting it is, how "unputdownable" it is. I read "Carrie" in one sitting. Other books that length have taken me a few weeks to get through.

I like to read any suspense, thriller fiction book. I usually just have a couple of hours to read a book. It sometimes takes me about a month to finish a book. But if I am into the book I would get to finish that book as fast as I can. :)

Although I do not work a full time job outside the home, taking care of my home, 2 kids, and husband are more than a full time job to me, I remember when I could sit down with a book and read the whole thing in 1 day, as I have done with many Nicholas Sparks books, but with each passing day and more responsibilities that seem to pile up I find less and less time to read, and now with my addiction to mylot (lol) reading a book has since dropped from my list of daily activities

This depends on the content of the book. If it is something I need for academics, It will definitely take me a while. But for novels and books on stories and games, I can finish it in a day if it is not two voluminous. Say about 150 pages or so.

I agree that alot of things can get in the way of even something as simple as picking up a book to read! However, one thing about me is that if i pick up a really good book! It is impossible for me to even put it down! If the book draws me in a can finish an entire novel within about 3 hours of straight reading!!!

I used to frustrate my mother when I was younger because she said that I "ate books" .. she would buy me a new book (they were very important in our family) and I would have it read the next day. I was a regular at our used book store because I read a book so fast that I couldn't afford to buy brand new ones all the time. I still read fast, but I attribute that to the fact that I have 2 small children, and if I ever wanted to read a whole book, it would take an evening, or a month. I love to read, and when I start, I can't finish.

It depends on the book. It's taking me forever to read "The Club Dumas", but I read "The Shadow of the Wind" in two nights. It grabbed me so much I stayed up most of the second night reading the last 250 or so pages. Work the next day was not very productive, but it was worth it.

Usually with a book for pleasure reading I can read one in a few hours depending on the size. I read between a 100 and 150 pages an hour on average. I don't read as much as I used to but my life is more hectic then it used to be as well. Makes it difficult.

I used to be a very fast reader. I could read an average size novel in one day, maybe 2 tops. Sometimes 2 smaller books in one day (like trashy romances, lol). But since the birth of my baby I find it takes me anywhere from 2 weeks to a month to read a book. And I figure that will only get worse as he gets more mobile and I am busy chasing him all over creation. I must say I do muss a leisurely sunday afternoon with a good book and a cup of cocoa, but he is so worth it.

I am not a full time worker in the sense that aside from working, i am also studying after my work. And reading books is really a habit of me. Though, same with you i find it hard to find times to read due to the busy life that i have. But honestly, even how busy i am, i always find time to read even a single page of the book that i want to read in a day since as what i have felt that my day wasn't that complete without reading even a page. I know that finishing a book takes a long time for me but there's nothing i can do with it. I still read and read and read for the rest of my life.
