is the death penalty ever justified?

first of all do you think that it is justified to give the death penalty to people for certain crimes. a lot of people think it is inhumaine and that no one has the right to take away omebody elses life regardless of the situation.
if you do feel it is justified, for what crime do you see it as an adequet punishment?
if you do not feel it can be justified, why not?

God is the giver of life, only He has the right to take it. Whatever reason men might have to justify this act is accountable to their action.

Yes in some cases it is justified but I just dont think that I could make that decision. I just couldnt do it
