Do you believe in an afterlife?
This question I often ask myself and others. As a christian I grew up believing that our souls are immortal, but still I sometimes have my doubts and I know that I shouldn't think like that if I believe in God. I just can't stop wondering what will happen after we die. Don't get me wrong I really do believe in God, that's why I can't understand why I am thinking this way. It seems like half of me is frightend that death is the ultimate end, and the other half is holding on to her faith.
Does someone feel the same way? Or is it nonsense to even have these thoughts when you claim you pray to God?
Thanks for taking your time.
Bye Vicky

I have always believed in an afterlife and yet am not immune to those occasional nagging thoughts of a final end. In those moments I ask myself how would I conduct my life differently I was wrong and there was no afterlife? Then I flip the question around and ask what would happen if I didn't believe there was an afterlife and it turned out there really was one? Usually I come to the realization that the only downside to believing in an afterlife (if it turns out not to be) is that I might have behaved better in this life. The other consequence could be that I took a lower road in this life due to a lack of belief in an afterlife and I suffered the consequences of my choices after this mortal life ends.
I should mention that the above is merely conjecture because I really don't know how I would act if I didn't believe in an afterlife. It's just as likely that my value and ethics would be the same (or better) if I believed that this life is all there is. Certainly the world is full of people who believe similarly and are great people.
I do believe that facing our own mortality is easier when one believes in an afterlife. My mother is in her 70s and my father has already passed on and I find it curious that older people who have a strong belief in the afterlife are still somewhat afraid to leave this mortal sphere. Maybe it's like standing at the edge of the door of an airplane waiting to parachute for the first time...it sounded good when you're on the ground, but it's dang scary when you are actually facing it!

No I dont beleive.
These were stories created during olden days to make people live a better life.
If there is something to fear, everyone will live a good life.
That was the concept behind these stories.
But see what happens now. Everyone is doing bad things.
So the stories are not working these days.

why would you say everything written in the bible are just stories? i can't support your comment, because there is more to life than just living it. you know what i am trying to say?
there are differences between bedtime stories and sayings from the bible. i don't think anyone would hold on to these sayings if there was nothing true in them. people were writing down the things they saw or heared themselves.
of course we be good persons, but people who believe and who don't believe are doing bad things. i don't know why someone who calls himselve a believer would do that though. still thanks for your comment.

Yes I believe in after life. I believe that after we die, we will rest for a while, wait for the eand of the world and after that we will live again in heaven or in hell.

It is normal to have one's faith waiver at times. But have faith and pray for guidance and you will be ok.

Yes, I understand! especially the second comming!!!... I mean, how could you wholeheartedly love, and praise God, if you are constantly thinking about burning in a neverending fire if you've been bad, I mean, If you really intend to believe, love and be true to God, then don't frighten us! It makes me feel that the entire religion is making me do it.

It is non-sense to believe in after-life. What is there to believe in after-life? It is all non-sense and balderdash! It is out and a supertitious mindset. God-believef or not, nobody should entertain in any kind vulgar supertition. Let God help those who unnecessarily take resort to unscientific mentality.

The afterlife, as noted in that film white light, is a bright place. With white lights conceiving around the said enterence. But if you are brought back, apparently, according to the side of the bus i read, you can bring people back with you from the said "afterlife." If you ask me, the afterlife concists of naked people and butterscotch.
My religious views, don't flame me.
