I don't get the whole plus and minus rating , are we supposed to do this with all the discusions we read or only for the discussions we post . And If you post a discussion can you rate everyone a + or only one person ? Thanks in advance for any help .

You can rate anything except your own posts. It's up to you how you react to each individual post from someone else. You can even rate a discussion without joining it. You dont really HAVE to rate anything, but I find it a good idea, and I can respond to a comment or discussion more fully. I only give negative ratings to things I really consider to be negative, like missing the whole topic, or unkind remarks on a discussion. I rate for abuse things I feel are inappropriate. It's all pretty democratic.

Thank you , I was really unclear on what the whole rating system was all about and wasn't sure if I should do it or not , I had rated some yesterday and then wasn't sure if I was supposed to do that or not .

Rate a + if the answer answered your post with some thought Rate - if it was a yes, not, or one liner of ?? Rate ! if it was abuse or pasing Everyone can be rated. Rate "best response" to only one person that you really liked at any time.

I rate all of my responses. Positive responses are given to those that put thought into their response. Negative respones are given to those who answer with a one or few word response or who use punctuation marks for a response. I use the exclamation mark to report abuse or irrelevant responses. Irrelevant responses are those that do not pertain to the discussion. I also report those that copy and paste another member's response or copy and paste information from the internet. I have noticed that once you hit the "!" and type a reason for reporting the member, it looks as if you have not rated the response. I will then give a negative rating. This alerts me that I have rated it already. I don't understand why it doesn't state "rated" once you report them.

i rate positive to discussions that are good and are meaningful to me. i rate positive to responses that have a lot of information on the subject being discussed. i only rate negative to responses that are inappropriate, have nothing to do with the topic, are one word or one line responses that didn't have any thought put into it. you can rate everyone a + if you want to. it's not required but i've seemed to be getting paid better and get more responses when i do rate. i also mark best responses. this helps the other user that has responded to your discussion. when picking this it can be difficult for me because sometimes there are more than one that i really like. i choose best responses for people that have gone the extra mile and have lots of good quality information. hope this helps

You can rate one person for best mark. But you can put 1000 +s if you want to anyone it helps them get up to a 10 faster to do dest mark and a +.

Why would you give a postive rating to everyone, when not all deserve a positive rating?

I do rate all responses in my discussions.I also rate in discussions that I respond to.For example,I rated a + to you for the discussion and to all of the responses here. If I understand mylot correctly, the ratings have something to do with the star by a person's name.I figure rating is quick and easy,so I do it. Like others,I believe a - is acceptable. If someone responds with only one or two words, copy and pastes someone elses response as their own, or their response has nothing to do with the discussion, I would use -.
