This is an excellent show for children ages 2-5. The morals are good despite the fact it's a cartoon. If my daughter is going to watch TV, I want her to at least watch something worthwhile.
Does anyone else like this show from Nickelodeon? Are there other shows you might recommend?

Oh boy this is the one show that will get my kid so invovled that she is dancing and waving hi/bye to them. It is so funny! She hears the music and she runs to the TV. I like them too I think that they try to teach good lessons. I just wish that there were more instead of all the reruns. I even went out and got her a backyardigans toy box!

The lessons and morals are great as you say. It's nice to have supportive things like this as opposed to all the pointless cartoons I grew up with. I don't like to leave my daughter in front of the TV or anything, but if she's going to watch TV there's nothing better than a show like this.
I'm thinking of getting a CD also! Can you recommend one since Nick has so many!? My daughter loves Lori Berkner Band so anything from this genre would only make her dance and boogie!

Careful with those CD's! If your child catches on that they can watch the same show at the touch of a button they will fight with you to watch it again over and over. I speak, unfortunately, from experience. LOL I could probly sing all the backyardigan songs on my son's CD's by heart.LOL

My son loves this show, too. I prefer this over so many other TV programs I would say are 'garbage'.

Agreed that show like Sponge Bob and any others are not the least bit appropriate for small children. I would call them a lot worse than 'garbage' though!
Wonder Pets is also a good show - also from Nickelodeon. Good morals, lots of messages about 'Teamwork', etc. It seems that some cartoon-type shows are made by parents like me, who care about morals and have children, and the other shows are made by adults with no children! Who would consider letting their 3 year-old watch Sponge Bob? This show is a little on the edge and is not something I want my daughter watching!

my younger sister watches that show too because they really teach morals effectively. aside from that, she watches dora the explorer, blue's clues and hi5 all from nick too.

oh yes they do.. constantly, they've memorized the songs, the lines and even the dance steps. There are many other nick jr shows that are good for kids. Dora the explorer, Go Diego go, wonder pets to name a few.

My 3-year-old son has been watching The Backyardigans a lot since this past spring. We have a few videotapes that some friends of ours have sent from Canada and he really enjoys them! Come to think of it, I'm starting to get attracted to the show as well, mainly for the differsnt styles of music they use for each episode (as well as the impressive animation).

I watch the Backyardigans! And to think I'm already 22 years old. It's an awesome show and I especially love the songs. ^_^
As for other shows? I also like Lazytown and Hi-5. The Wonder Pets are nice too. ^_^

My two year old loves this show!! We dance around the house singing
Stomping that Yeti Stomp" all the time. It's how I get her to hold still long enough for me to snap a picutre of her in one of my designs.
