Our mom exposed me & my siblings to various types of tastes, that's why I can practically eat anything, hehe...& yes, I do eat bitter gourd & I have learned to appreciate its taste...we normally eat it stir-fried with oyster sauce & ground beef... Hope this helps, but I do think that there is some truth to it--how you prepare bitter gourd can also help in lessening the bitter taste...if salt is allowed for you, after you cut the bitter gourd lengthwise & scrape the seeds inside, rub some coarse salt inside the gourd then wash it off--this method is said to lessen the bitter taste...another technique would be while cooking, to AVOID stirring the gourd as this is said to bring out the bitter juices all the more...so far, it's worked for us...do tell if it works out for you & happy gourd eating! =)

I do like the bitter guard, I eat it raw, dried and later deep fried, and pickled one. It aids in killing the worms and germs at intestine. Do not hate it just becoz its bitter, which can be removed by expertise cook.

I sometimes use bitter gourd in curries and Asian soups. I know it is good for you. Somebody mentioned that an expert cook can remove its bitterness. Can anybody tell me how?
