My son was diagnosed by the School with this I tried the medicane but I think it made him worse so I quit the medicane, took him out of school and began homeschooling him he is doing so much better than before. Are the Schools using ADHD as an excuse what is going on is it a real medical issue.

At first I cannot accepted when my son diagnosed with adhd 3 year ago.But I told myself I must do something for his future and his health development.Whenever he missed his medicine, sure something is bound to happen.complaint from school and his studies.I Think with the medication and understanding teacher the kids will be more willing to listen and pay more attention in class. As parent we must always comunicate with his/her form teacher as to monitor his/her well being in scholl.I hope you have confidence when you put him back in scholl.Good luck

I will never put him back in Public School. See I did have Communication with his teacher, I worked as a Substitute teacher at the same school. The Medication made him not there, yeah the teacher's could handle. I thank You for your honesty, I really have a negative opinion on Public Schools and what they are doing to our children.

Good for you. We are working so hard to be able to get our daughter back out of school. They have gotten to the point that they are no longer beneficial for children. My wife works as a teacher in another school. One third of her class is "special needs" and it makes it near impossible for her to help the "normal" students at all. The way schools are now, I'm surprised anybody learns anything.

Schools are not medical personell, and have no business diagnosing children. With anything. They should even be very cautious of suggesting a medical diagnosis, it is not their area of expertise. The best diagnosis can be made through psychological counselling and screening, accompanies by medical support. That being said, I will comment that the right medication, for the right student, can be the right thing to do. I have seen it happen both ways. There are a number of different meds that supposedly work for adhd. On your part, if home schooling leads to better organizational skills, and getting more sleep, and being responsive to dietary needs, then it makes sense to do so. I think how the school views adhd varies from one location to another. I know that the schools usually get more state and federal moneys for special needs kids. It does not always add up to a plus, though, if they have to use a lot of resources. Good luck. I would not have homeschooled, my kids passed up my knowledge base by about sixth grade.

The best homeschoolers I know have somewhat of an organization. They do field trips together, etc. They combine resources, and share ideas. They put their kids in community theater, 4H and lots of other hands on learning situations. My problem would have been that by the time my kids passed second year algebra, I would have been lost. They were never labeled as anything but gifted, and that is not always a blessing either. I beleive that both my son and I may be 'ADD' note, we do not have the hyperactivity component. If I were to choose from the meds available for a child, I would want to try adderall. Physiscal exercise is necessary for healthy minds and healthy bodies. I do work in Special Ed. I am not a teacher, so this is all opinion. Good luck. Bear in mind, at 16 many community colleges will allow students to start taking college classes, church colleges, too. My daughter had a semester of college before she finished high school.

Thank You for your Honesty! I do feel I have chosen the best route for my child, and the greatest thing about it is he doesnt take any meds, and I get to teach him not only the subjects that are being taught in school but also the Bible, so it has been great. Again Thank You!

Alot of the times schools do this so they can put the child in a special class. So it basically turns out to be a money issue because they get extra money for every child they enroll in the special class.I believe that some children do have attention problems but Im not sure I believe in medicating them for it.I myself was put on adderall when i was 17 which is alot later then most kids and it didnt do a thing to me but make me nervous and sick feeling.I wouldnt want my child to have to ever go through that.

adhd or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a disorder of preschoolers or early school children which is manifested by their inability to control their behavior or pay attention. i think most of the preschoolers and kids at that age are like that, mostly these kids are inattentive hyperactive and impulsive
and it is normal for their age but at a low level. iff your child however manifests these symptoms for more than a month or for long period of time then he may as well have adhd.
is the behavior of you child excessive and long term?. is he always like that or depending on the situation he is in?.
may i ask you what medications are prescribed by the school to your son?. and who in the school of your son diagnosed him?. is he/she a nurse?, doctor?, midwife or what?. i think that you should check a professional to really know if your son is suffering from adhd.

The Teacher along with the Counselor diagnosed him, I then went to the Doctor with the test results given by the School and they put him on Ritlan. I always thought my son was a normal child, we moved to FL when he was 6 and here they don't have recess and the teachers told me there was a problem, I don't have him in public school now and he is doing really well he get's outside and burns the energy.
