Harry-Potter-like books

Do you know of any other book series with a theme like Harry Potter? I know of the Series-of-Unfortunate-Events series, but I find reading it too tiresome since the series has sooo many books. Any other good reading material series out there?

Other books which have the same theme of fantasy like Harry Potter are : Eragon,Eldest and Lord of the Rings Series.One other book is Stephen King's The Eyes of The Dragon.

The Dragon Spell series by Donita K. Paul is a wonderful series, that is similar to the Harry Potter idea.
The first is Dragon Spell, then Dragon Quest, then Dragon Knight. The title is the same as some other books, but this series is by Donita K. Paul. She is a wonderful author! I've read all three books and they are great for kids and adults.

Check put Artemis Fowl. Young rich boy with dealings with fairies and the likes.

The Artemis Fowl Series by Eon Colfer is much better than harry potter. Also check out the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud
