There are so many sites and information on the dangers of smoking. I have yet to find one that talks about the benefits of smoking. I am not a smoker and I don't intend to be one. But I would just like to understand why people like to smoke.

Besides the benefit of smoking helping one to relax and ease tension, which most smokers will tell you about? There are some other health benefits. You can read up on some of them here: http://www.jrussellshealth.com/smokbens.html Now for myself smoking has helped with my blood pressure. Before I started smoking my blood pressure was all over the wall, from too low to too high. Once I started smoking my blood pressure evened out. Mine runs right around 110/70. Now when I quit smoking for any legnth of time the doctor wants to put me on high blood pressure medication. Personally I'd rather smoke. I know what the possible side effects of that is, where as a pill I don't. Far too many pills they have ended up findng out about effects ten years later that you don't know about when you start. Besides I enjoy smoking where I don't enjoy taking a pill.

I would say there really are some benifits of smoking... some of the scientist found out there it prevents perkinson's disease in man and other benifits are you get the insurance money faster then you normally do by paying less premium, and also help the country to curb the population growth.

Following are the benefits of smoking: 1. It builds friendship, of course among smokers themselves. 2. As a pass time, for those who cannot find other means except by smoking 3. The smoke kills some bacteria, although the substance damages later the tissue on its contact 4. It gives some sort of pyschological effect like the macho or social feeling, for those who think it is. There are some obvious benefits. But as you would know the disadvantage far far outweights the benefits. So it is good that you decided not to smoke.
