There is a certain type of bacteria that infects one type of wasp and fruitflies, that changes the males to females. They then become asexual, not needing the males any more. I find this to be quite fascinating.

My son did his thesis on this. He was trying to grow this bacteria outside of the host. Science is still waiting for this to happen. :)
