I have a 6.5lb Yorkshire Terrier who thinks he's the biggest dog on the block, Who will walk on the sidewalk like it's his and dare another dog, even cat to step around him or he's ready to fight. Other than that he is a really good dog and very obedient in all aspects, EXCEPT other animals...My tyger suffers from the napoleon syndrome...Do you have a dog that just without a doubt think he/she is the baddest dog on the block!!!Please share some of your experiences...

I have a yorkie too and she acts just like that. She doesn't like any other dogs and she doesn't want them around her. If they get too close she is ready to bite their head off or so it seems. She's a really good and loving dog except when it come to other animals. And she lets us know when anybody is outside cause she barks at every person she sees walk down the road.

I've noticed that alot more smaller dogs seem to act this way more so than the bigger breeds. I think that maybe they know they're smaller & there fore they need to act tougher so they themselves don't get "bullied" by bigger dogs.
That's just my thoughts. LOL

That is exactly how my male Chihuahua acts. He is not afraid to challenge any other dog. He is the same weight as your dog and he such a sweet heart he is walking along just relaxed and casual until he sees another dog and then he changes his walk becomes a strut it is almost like he is daring the other dog, who happens to be about 3 or 4 times his size, to come and get it.

Yes, I know what you mean, Tyger walks very proudly on the sidewalks, ears up and tail up and he has no worries...It's so funny how our lil dogs have no fear...thank you for responding...

Sometimes they are the toughest dog on the block. My mother had a cocker spaniel, no less, who was the leader of a dog pack. Not easy for a little dog. Your Yorkie comes from a famously tough breed, though. Anyone bred to fight rats on their own turf is no coward.

Yes, I agree. When I take my dog out, I'm always real careful about who my dog "tries" to come in contact with.

I think all small dogs have that complex and ESPECIALLY Terriers...we had a 15 lb jack russell terrier and she was FEROCIOUS with small dogs, and she liked the big dogs as she just thought she was one of the big ones herself.

Our new minpin puppy we got for Christmas is that way too! He thinks he's a Great Dane or something! He loves anyone and anything, but if another animal growls at him or lunges at him, he goes balistic! Talk about the mouse that roars! hehehee What's he going to do, bite their foot?

Yep that's what we do, pick up our lil dogs when they get all aggressive, I know I do, I don't want no big dog hurting my precious baby...

are small dogs really like this? not so familiar with smaller dogs cause we have large ones at home but had an experience though when a very cute pup or dog (only that he is as small as my foot) brave his way out on the street and held his position as if saying to us "don't you dare cross this line" and the owner just laughed off and took his dog saying "come here you naughty one, they could just step on you" that was really a funny experience

I have a 4lb chihuahua who belives she is a doberman. She thinks she can beat up any thing. Her bark is definelty bigger than her bite though. She is also VERY jealous, and will make it known to any other person or animal - especially kids. I cannot have kids in my house because they get all the attention which leaves her out, and she just wont have it.
