Tax is a compulsory impost levied by the government. There are a varied taxes viz. Income Tax, Wealth Tax, House Tax, Service Tax, Entertainment Tax, Sales Tax, etc. All these taxes are categorised as Direct and Indirect Taxes. Everybody hates taxes due to lack of knowledge. Everybody has tired of paying different kinds of taxes in their daily life. But nobody knows the exact reason for levying such taxes on us and where do these taxes benefit us. But these taxes are really taken for the benefit of us. It's a different thing whether the taxes collected are being utilised effectively and truly in pursuit of the purpose for which they are being collected. And their application rely on the government authorities. All taxes have their application to benefit the tax payers. For example : Road tax collected should be applied to make good roads. It's a different thing whether it has really been done or not by the appropriate authorities. Hospitals and amusement parks are financed through such tax payments. Both of them cater to the needs of tax payers. That's the benefit of their tax which is returned to them in such forms. Hence, tax-payers have to beware of application of their taxes to avoid the ill effects of their hatred feelings for taxes on their health.

I agree that taxes are a necessary duty of citizenship. When we come together as a society to form a government, we should be expected to support it financially. Unfortunately, our government's system of tax collection has become burdensome, overbearing, and not cost effective. Currently, we spend $10 billion to operate the IRS and another $265 billion to comply with our current tax code (www.fairtax.org/fairtax/taxorigins.htm), which is a ridiculous waste of our financial resources. Out tax code, that started as a few pages, is now comprised of thousands of pages as special interests and our elected officials skewed the system for a variety of reasons. One example, Earned Income Credit, goes by another name "Redistribution of Wealth". Personally, I am a proponent of HR 25 and S 25 that would appeal the Sixteenth Ammendment and replace our payroll deductions with a national sales tax. In the meantime, and until the IRS starts paying interest on tax overpayments, I will continue to adjust my deductions to reduce my overpayment returns to be as little as possible (my best year was an $8 return). I am not a bank and I do not recall my government sending me an application for a loan.
