He who is hungry cannot eat the grammar book, nor can he who is thirsty drink the essence of poetry. Although i learnt the above lines in a completely different context, it applies equally well to all professionals. It is not just enough that we have the urge to do things. It is not sufficient that the knowledge exists in a book or manual. we need to have the knowledge in place and the competence to do it. So even if technology will make significant advances, if we do not have the people who can implement it well, there is no benefit we can derive out of the technological advances. And even that is not enough. If you do not have the business knowledge, and processes to leverage the technology in place, then again what is the point? So that is knowledge. We must have it in the right time at the right place and with the right person

This is absolutely true! I particularly like the last sentence. "If you do not have the business knowledge, and processes to leverage the technology in place, then again that is the point? So that is knowledge. We must have it in the right time at the right place and with the right person."

Sadly here in the States , there are going to be fewer and fewer people who are ready for the technology.School kids are being taught just what they need to know for a test, not how to learn. Many families won't be able to afford college. Where will the new business men and women come from?

I agree with you completely on this, learnt ideas must be translated into beneficial action if they are to be useful to us at all. There ae people who may have very impressive paper qualifications, but when it comes to doing the professional demands of their work, they look like shadows of their high paper qualifications.
