What's the best way to get telemarketers off my back?

I have caller id and usually don't answer. how can I get them to stop calling (I hear the donotcall registry doesn't work) and if I do pick up the phone aside from immediately hanging up what can I say to deter additional calls?

ive stopped them. I simply put them on hold and go about my business, they get the message eventually and it costs them which is the real satisfaction

Register at the online dont call registry.Cell phones,business and home phones can be registered....you still get some calls for about 30days .Just tell ny one who calls in that time period that u r registered with de dont call registry and to pls remove u from their callin list.if they give u ny hassle advice them that u will file a report.
I had to do this too and evr solicitor I spoke to was immediately ready to get off the fone and apologized quickly .Keep a log next to ur fone for the first 30days and file it with ur tele-bill afta that.(You will hv to keep a record of companies you personally advised of the registration ,etc,just rite down their name ,the company,date and time of call).
Be Patient,The Calls Will Stop In About 30 Days .....GOOD LUCK MAN....!!!!
