What does the stars next to some usernames mean?

I am new to myLot and have noticed that some users have a start next to their username. How are these stars earned and what are the benefits of having one?

The star indicates your participation rate in myLot. The highest number in the star means more participation. 10 means highest ranking while 1 is the lowest. You will get that star once you reach a rating of 100. Your rating is the number in parentheses besides your username.
