I planted seeds last year and I got 6 foot tall flowers Next year I would like to plant the dwarf variety
The only problem is when they fully mature thier heads start to droop

hi ptennan01, sunflower is is my also one of the favourites. we are having a small garden behind our house and i love to spend my time there. we are having sunflower and many more flowers there. we are having a variety of roses too and my dad loves to take care of them. its really very true that sunflowers droopdown when they mature so have to be supported with something or the other. but they are really beutiful ones.

Sunflowers are the ultimate flowers which one can plant in ones house and i really want to grow them. But the problem is that none of the seeds shops in our area hold seeds of sunflower saying that thaey are cultivated plants and not for gardens. I tried in vain at many places but was not succesful in procuring seeds for my garden.

I have planted them. And they do have to have direct sunlight or their heads will droop. I had some plants that were over over 6 ft tall. Good luck this year.

Hi ptennant!
This year, we have volunteer sunflowers growing. They sprung up out of the "sterile" bird seed I've been using for the birds. Here's a photo of one of the sunflowers we have.
