I'm moving to Florida to live with my daughter and take care of my grandson while my daughter works and goes to school! I am so happy! I've never been to Florida! Any tips? I'll be in southwest Florida. Any places I should see? Avoid? What can you tell me about living in Florida?

That is very good news as I know that you have been wanting this for some time now and wish you the best down there in Florida. That is nice that you will be staying with your daughter and helping out with your grandson. I am sure they are anxious to see you and be together again. I spent two years in Ft. Lauderdale and loved it very much and had fun. There is a lot to see and do down there but it does get very hot and humid during the summers. There are plenty of beaches, amusement parks, parks and shops that you can visit. Key West is a good place to visit down there as well as Orlando if you are able to explore other parts of Florida.

congrats! I am glad that you are reuniting with your daughter, and a part of your family, it must have been tough being away for so long. A far as what to avoid I am not sure, bt you should plan a trip to Disney World at some point in the not too far off future :) Good Luck :)

Silver Springs in a really nice place. The Lowery Park Zoo in Tampa is beautiful too. Tarpon Springs is a cool little greek area with good restuarants and shops and a neat little aquarium. They are situated on sponge docks and you can take a boat trip to see dolphins at a pretty reasonable price. I hope you enjoy it, we just moved back to the Tampa area in December.

I am very happy for you dear.
Florida has lovely beaches. Just watch out for the gators, they are around the everglades and lakes.
Best of luck, Blessings, M&M

I've been to Florida several times but never lived there. But really I just responded because I wanted to say how happy I am for you. You and your daughter probably really need each other right now. I'm sure she's relieved that you'll be there for her. And hopefully you'll be very happy there.

If only you said where in Florida. I used to live in Orlando. Of course, you must see Disneyworld, Seaworld, Wet 'n Wild, Universal Studios and the like. Cocoa Beach is a 1 1/2 hour NE and a lovely beach and pier attractions such as shopping and fresh seafood. Wear plenty of sunscreen. Good luck!

I am in the central west part. It is cold here today and rainy this week. Bring warm clothes cause you will need them once in awhile. :)
Lots of places to go and see. Try Homossassa Wildlife Park. Wonderful place.
Be prepared for very hot summers. Brush up on hurricane survival procedures and be prepared.
Enjoy your time with your daughter and granson! Good Luck!

Congratulations. I hope you like it there. I wouldn't mind living there because I hear it's pretty sunny. I love the fact it's close to a lot of theme parks :-)
