Creating a community to Help All Kinds of Artists Get Started and Get Noticed!

The studio division of my company has been batting around ideas for a way to help the community in our local area, while putting our name out there for all to see. I came up with the idea to start a kind of community group where aspiring photographers, models, musicians, artists etc. could come together and network locally. I think it would be a great way to meet others with similar interests, and for aspiring artists to connect with others who can help them achieve their dreams. My plan is to drum up interest and ideas in online communities like this and My Space, and to eventually have a major meeting once every 3 or 4 months where we invite artists from our local area to attend a seminar (held by us)about starting on the career paths of modeling, visual art, music performance, acting or photography, and make different services available to those who attend these seminars, like providing a starter photo portfolio for models and actors/actresses, providing some preliminary advertising services for aspiring photographers and artists, and some networking opportunities for musicians. We would be providing information on how to get started, who to contact, what to know, the best areas to get work, the pitfalls, financial issues and an array of other helpful hints and tips, as well as networking opportunities. I needs some more input and ideas from others with similar interests? Does this seem like something that could really help others who want to go down these career paths? Please offer any suggestions/expertise. We want to make this a really big thing, and we want to help others like us who are just getting started, and offer support for their dreams!
