I am trying to get through Final Fantasy XII

OK so far This game is dissappointing me. It has a never ending amount of side quests which is ok but the espers are pretty much useless as far as I am concerned I can hit much harder with the quickens and physical attacks. This whole time I have been spending on side quests and I am beginning to wonder if all this work is worth it or should I just go and beat the game and end my suffering. I am still holding out hope that the ending will make playing this game worth it. I have loved most of the final fantasy games up to this point and as long as I waited on this game to come out Iwould have thought the story line would have been better or at least the espers would be worth the pain of collecting them all. what is your opinion of the game??

You know,in an RPG, it is not the "ending" that you are after. If you do just that,you'll miss many secrets and side quests,which has more fun in it.
I beat the game when my chars was about on level 45 or so,but to defeat Doom Dragon,Seer,or Yiazmat,you'll have to be on level 80+.
So what I think is,it depends on how you play the game.For me,I don't come to look for the ending,just to have fun myself. My next mission is to level up my chars to 99,which would be long..and perhaps boring for you :D

For me it is the story line of an rpg I enjoy the side quests usually cause it fills in the blanks of the story line. For example Shadow Hearts Covenant and Final Fantasy X-2. SHC had many side quests but each one told alittle more detail into the other characters life. FFX-2 you had to do the side quests to get the 100% ending which was worth the side quests. It just seems to me that these side quests have nothing to do with the story but they are good when trying to level up for the more difficult hunts (which I love). Did you do all the side quests or did you pick and choose?
