Is Age Matter?

I'm loving someone now. She's my friend in my university. But the problem is, she's a year older than me. She doesn't want to have more deeper relationship with me, when I asked for it. Some of my friends said that she maybe looked me as a younger person, and she would afraid of the relationship. But I think age doesn't matter, because if I could make her happy, why not? I want to convince her, that I love her very much, and to prove that I'm not a kid anymore. I would be a man. Please give me an opinion. It would be nice to hear from you. Thanks
