Arrange marraige : does it work's better than love marraige

in india it's a common thing wherein the girl and guy gets married to each other whom they infact havent known completely..with the elders decisions the marraige takes place.....does this work..or dont we think this should hinder their day to day habits,toughts ,or even maratial affairs
