Polygammy

I want to know why the whites laws do not give room for polygammy( more than one wife) but silent on extral marital affairs.

Even it wud have not been allowed (i mean it is not)...but problem is only legally whn one gets married its easy to prove but affair may goes without leaving any evidence!!!...thts a case i guess!!
