Best pick on draftday.

So what is your favorite place to pick on Draftday? 1st and get your uber-stud or last and get 2 in the top 20? In a 12 team league I've done better picking last on a serpentine draft order. I think it's better myself to get picks 12 and 13 vs. 1 and 24.

I joined a league for the first time a few days ago. It is an auto-draft league, so all I did was rank players and sit back for the draft to take place. I got Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley as my earliest position picks, Roy Halliday is my top pitcher.

I don't like Auto-Drafts personally. I prefer to be able to react as needed to the rest of the teams in the draft. If my next round pick is probably going this round and my current pick is not then you can take a chance and swap if need be. If a closer or catcher run is starting or if you want to start a closer or catcher run 8-)

I like picking third or fourth. I still get one of the guys I wanted a bunch, but also can get a pretty nice pick from he top 20 to boot.
That being said, for the first time this year, I joined two leagues in CBS Sportsline. They are both 12 team leagues and I picked 1st and 12th.
I actually did well in both drafts. I got Albert Pujols in one, then took Chris Carpenter and David Ortiz in the one I picked last.
I hope I never have to pick first or 12th again.
